Highlights
One of the biggest challenges for schools in townships throughout South Africa is overcrowding. Many teachers have the added challenge that English is not their first language which means that they are unable to give children the preparation they require, to develop the basic English skills and literacy skills they require for school. Once children reach primary school many of the lessons are taught in English which means that children who do not have a basic understanding of the language will fall behind the rest of the peers in their class. GVI has partnered with such schools to help them teach basic English and literacy to these young children. In addition to helping children with their literacy and English skills, GVI volunteers will also help them with their self-confidence and self-esteem.
Developing your personnel management; leadership and teaching skills through formal training presentations; gain an internationally recognised BTEC certificate in Team Leading; living in beautiful Cape Town and is surrounds and working each day in townships and local communities; understanding local indigenous culture, local travel and adventure and cultural activities.
