Program Description

GeoVisions - English Conversation Corps Program in Russia

Description

GeoVisions' Conversation Corps provides English conversationalists a chance to live with a Russian family and teach them English. Because of the close proximity of the "students" this will be an amazing adventure of living in your teaching environment. This is a high-energy position. The parents have been working all day and the children have been in school but you still need to come up with fun and enthusiastic ways to teach them English. We provide the materials; you provide the personality to liven up a family class or dinner conversation!

This is a great program for people who want to experience life in European Russia and the Russian culture in-depth. The program has a focus on cultural exchange and host families are not only excited to learn English but also love to share the characteristics of their amazing country, culture and cuisine.

Duties and Responsibilities Include:
* Teaching the host family English up to 15 hours a week Monday to Friday.
* Come up with creative, fun and informative lesson plans.
* Keep your room tidy and clean.
* Respect host family's rules and habits.
* Manage your own personal expenses (telephone bills, clothing, entertainment and spending money).
* Helping children with their English homework.
* Play games in English with the children.
* Create and teach educational games and activities.

Highlights

Conversation Corps volunteers receive instruction on how to teach English, with specific activities for teaching English in a home to a family. Your orientation is held on site in St. Petersburg. Transportation to the host family is also included.

St. Petersburg is a city located in the Northwest of Russia on the Neva River at the east end of the Gulf of Finland on the Baltic Sea. St. Petersburg enjoys the image of being the most Western European styled city of Russia.

Few cities can offer so many stunning attractions and intriguing moods as St. Petersburg - City of the Tsars. From the vibrant colours of spring, through the sunny summer days and endless twilights of the famous White Nights, the brilliant golden sun of autumn, and into the crisp and brittle brightness of a St. Petersburg winter, the City casts its own unique spell over visitors.

Qualifications

Participants will instruct their host families in English and must be native speakers. They need to have earned a high school (secondary school) diploma or certificate, be of good character, in good health and be polite and respectful to the family's rules and habits.
