Live with a German Family and Teach them English

Program Description

Live with a German Family and Teach them English

Description

GeoVisions' Conversation Corps provides English conversationalists a chance to live with a German family and teach them English. Because of the close proximity of the "students" this will be an amazing adventure of living in your teaching environment. This is a high-energy position. The parents have been working all day and the children have been in school but you still need to come up with fun and enthusiastic ways to teach them English. We provide the materials; you provide the personality to liven up a family class or dinner conversation!

This is a great program for people who want to experience life in Germany and the German culture in-depth. The program has a focus on cultural exchange and host families are not only excited to learn English but also love to share the characteristics of their amazing country, culture and cuisine.

Duties and Responsibilities Include:

* Teaching the host family English up to 15 hours a week Monday to Friday.
* Come up with creative, fun and informative lesson plans.
* Keep your room tidy and clean.
* Respect host family's rules and habits.
* Manage your own personal expenses (telephone bills, clothing, entertainment and spending money).
* Helping children with their English homework.
* Play games in English with the children.
* Create and teach educational games and activities.

Highlights

Conversation Corps volunteers receive instruction on how to teach English, with specific activities for teaching English in a home to a family. Your orientation is held on site in Munich. Transportation to the host family is also included.

Located on the river Isar north of the Bavarian Alps, Munich is the capital of Bavaria and Germany's third largest city. A modern city with a robust economy, Munich is also home to amazing historical architecture and deep cultural roots. Because of it's proximity to the Alps, Munich is also ideal for people who love the outdoors. Some of the best skiing in the world can be found just two hours away across the Austrian border.

Qualifications

Participants will instruct their host families in English and must be native speakers. They need to have earned a high school (secondary school) diploma or certificate, be of good character, in good health and be polite and respectful to the family's rules and habits.

Placements are available year 'round and range in duration from one to three months. Participants must devote up to 15 hours per week, Monday thru Friday, for lessons and conversation.
