ESL Carnival: Engaging Women in the ESL Classroom

Last month, we asked ourselves the question, "How do you engage women in your English classes while teaching in cultures where women are expected to be seen and not heard?”

In many parts of the world, females don’t have access to basic education. That is why United Nations has made it a goal to eliminate gender inequality in all levels of education by 2015. But even when girls and women make it into the classroom, there are many factors that can inhibit their learning and involvement. Read on for some tips about how make your lessons effective for both genders:
