Description
About 1/5 of the world's population lives in this vast country. In 1994, a group of workers in this large international city started a school for their own children. With this school being the only international school in the city, the international business community quickly took advantage of the school, causing good numerical growth. Chinese children are not allowed to attend international schools in China so the students enrolled in the Oasis school in China are dependents of expatriates representing more than 20 nations. The students, however, have become involved in many projects that serve the local Chinese, proving to be a natural "bridge" between the wonderful people of China and the foreign community living there.
Highlights
Oasis International Schools is a division of NICS operating international schools that are not religious in nature. Oasis schools emphasize the development of character and a sound foundation for morals, ethics, and values while honoring the host country by meeting the needs of students in a manner appropriate to the particular context.
As each host country is unique, Oasis schools may be quite distinct from one another. Oasis does, however, seek like-minded teachers and staff for these schools.
OASIS International Schools is committed to establishing and maintaining American-style, English-speaking international schools around the world, particularly meeting the needs of the expatriate communities.
OASIS believes strongly in a learning environment that is disciplined, academically strong, and character-based, following the example of the American educational system as established by the Founding Fathers, where ethics and values are important elements to a child's development, and where the whole child is educated-mentally, socially, physically, and spiritually. We believe that teachers must be the living model of good character, living their lives in such a way as to provide the exemplary behavior expected from the students they teach.
Qualifications
Most positions with OASIS International Schools require teacher certification; a bachelor's degree is minimally required in all OASIS schools. We are primarily looking for native speakers of English.
